Alfred Amado, Ph.D
I’m Alfred J. Amado, Ph.D, NCSP, founder and CEO of Behavioral & Educational Solutions, PC, a behavioral and health services consulting company, where I oversee business development, operations, and financial expansion. I received my doctoral degree in School Psychology from Texas A & M University, with specialization in child-clinical psychology and serving at-risk populations.
For over 20 years I have been providing comprehensive psychological services in the school, community mental health clinics, medical, forensic, and university settings. I am a Licensed Psychologist in Maryland and Washington, D.C. My postdoctoral training includes separate fellowships from Johns Hopkins University, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and the University of Miami.  As an American Psychological Association Congressional Fellow, I served one year on the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and Labor. Prior to working in Congress, I was a member of the faculty in the School Psychology Program at the University of Maryland’s College of Education. I have numerous national publications, presentations, and awards.
My wife and I recently celebrated 10 happy years together and have two sons (five and seven years old). I practice Chinese Martial Arts with my sons and we take advantage of every opportunity to spend time outdoors (biking, canoeing, skiing). My greatest sadness is that my father, who I loved and respected above all other men, passed away a month prior to the birth of my oldest son, providing within a one-month time frame the most mournful and joyous moments of my life.
