Alfred J AmadoPresident
I received my doctoral degree from Texas A & M University where I specialized in child-clinical & school psychology. I have over 20 years of experience providing comprehensive psychological services in the school, community, medical, forensic, and university settings. My treatment orientation follows a cognitive/behavioral and solution-focused approach taking into account the multicultural and systemic uniqueness of each client’s situation. Most important is getting to know my clients’ unique circumstances in order to create a treatment plan individualized for their needs. I specialize in providing effective and individualized psychological services to children, adolescents, adults, and families. I have been accepted by Montgomery County, Frederick County, and Prince Georges County Family Court Divisions as an expert in the field of child and family psychology. All my services are provided in Spanish or English.
I received separate postdoctoral fellowships from Johns Hopkins University, the National Institute on Drug Abuse, and the University of Miami. In addition, I served one year as an APA Congressional Fellow on the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education and Labor, where I provided expert consultation on policy related to child abuse prevention, juvenile justice, student support services, and the impact of immigration enforcement on families, children, and communities. Prior to working in Congress, I served 2 years as an assistant professor in the School Psychology Program at the University of Maryland. I have numerous national publications, completed many presentations, and earned multiple awards for my work in the field. In 2008 I created Behavioral & Educational Solutions, PC to establish a holistic place where families and individuals can go to receive solution focused treatment from a cadre of disciplines. I received the Nelson Butters Award from the National Academy of Neuropsychology for research contribution to clinical neuropsychology.
