Alana ParkerAssessments Coordinator
I am a certified school psychologist in Washington D.C. and Maryland. I earned a Specialist degree at Howard University after I completed an internship in District of Columbia Public School system. At DCPS I assessed students’ cognitive abilities, academic functioning, and social-emotional functioning. Conducting psycho-educational assessment and interpretation, mental health assessments and devising behavior plans across many years. I have also had the opportunity to work as an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapist in the home and school settings. I have a special interest in focusing on supporting elementary-aged students who have experienced trauma and/or grief, by integrating a variety of intervention programs with current curriculum. I have assisted many students who have experienced grief and trauma difficulties and find it too often eventually impacts academics functioning. Over my internship year, I have conducted workshops for teachers and parents in order to promote awareness regarding trauma/mental health and its impact in the academic setting. In addition, I have recommended evidence-based treatments and interventions for students in urban grade school settings. My professional experiences, specialized training, and love for helping children has fed my passion for assisting with behavior and academic success amongst children.
